Where to eat in Quartu Sant'Elena

Quartu’s culinary identity is especially strong in its bakeries and pastry workshops, heirs to a celebrated Campidanese tradition. Artisanal coccoi and moddizzosu breads share the counter with pardulas, whose local recipe has been formally documented, and elaborate almond sweets such as candelaus, gueffus, pastissus, pirichittus and gattò. The rediscovered su siddini, made with stale bread, grape must syrup, orange peel and almonds, recalls the resourcefulness of older household cooking. Along the Poetto and the Gulf of Cagliari, menus turn towards bottarga, burrida, grilled fish and fregula with clams.
