Where to eat in Gonnesa

Gonnesa’s cooking reflects the meeting of coastal and rural traditions in the Iglesiente. Fresh fish and tuna dominate summer menus, while winter brings salumi, local cheeses, pasture-raised meats and foraged chicory, cardoons, asparagus and mushrooms. Among its more distinctive dishes is polenta with hearty meat or vegetable sauces, alongside malloreddus, legumes and trigu cottu, an old preparation of boiled wheat. In the hamlet of Nuraxi Figus, traditional bread and fried raviolini—filled with artichokes, ricotta or sausage and onions—are celebrated at local festivals. Carignano wine accompanies this seasonal, unpretentious cuisine, served in seafood restaurants, country agriturismi and welcoming family trattorias.
